Now with the spreader, as we start to go up with our lateral load, the more we go up, the more issues we have with that lateral shifting and we’ll have rolling.
Knowing that this thing can rotate as it goes up, the spreader will slide from side to side. What’s the best thing we can do to prevent that from happening?
Chock the front. And chock the back of that side because we’re lifting over here.
If I start like this, look at my tips.
If I keep the spreader tip flat down to start, I’m going to be able to go a lot higher with stability of this thing being on the ground and being flat.
Instructor Tip
Before it makes contact, that tip on the ground is at its worst possible angle that it could be at, so it’s going to tip really easy. I mean, look at what I can do. It’s just doing that on its own, right.
Versus if I start my spread like this. How much less is it tipping, right?
So if I go underneath here and you see how I keep it flat down here to start, I’m going to be able to go a lot higher with stability of this thing being on the ground and being flat the way it is right now than if I started like this, everybody see the difference?
On the tip, I can stick my whole hand underneath there. Right?
Compared to the way I had it before. Which is like this.
Really stable right now and I can go a lot higher that way.
This is a great way to use it. A great tool in the toolbox to get a quick, easy, fast lift.
